1. Dr. Yashwant Singh Parmar University of Horticulture and Forestry

Dr. Yashwant Singh Parmar University of Horticulture and Forestry, Solan, was established on 1st December, 1985 with the objective to promote education, research and extension education in the fields of Horticulture, Forestry and allied disciplines. The education aims at an all-round development of the personality of the student and the University provides the necessary facilities to achieve this objective. The College of Forestry has now seven departments namely Tree Improvement & Genetic Resources, Silviculture & Agroforestry, Forest Products, Soil Science & Water Management, Environmental Science, Social Sciences, Basic Sciences with the mandate of imparting teaching to undergraduate and postgraduate students leading to B.Sc., M.Sc. & Ph.D degree. 8. Forest Research Institute, Dehradun

Forest Research Institute (FRI), Dehradun” has its roots in the erstwhile Imperial Forest Research Institute established in 1906 to organize and lead forestry research in the country. Its history is synonymous with the evolution and development of scientific forestry not only in India but in the entire Indian subcontinent. The institute also administered training to forest officers and forest ranger in the country and after independence it was aptly named as Forest Research Institute and Colleges.
