Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, Karnataka a premier Health Science University in India was established on 1st June 1996 at Bangalore by the Govt. of Karnataka through its enactment of Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, Karnataka Act 1994 to encompass all the existing health science colleges and institutions which were earlier affiliated to the conventional universities in Karnataka with a purpose of ensuring proper and systematic instruction, teaching, training and research in modern and Indians systems of medicine.

The phenomenal increase in the number of institutions and students admitted to various courses of medical and allied health sciences warranted the need to regulate, monitor and standardize the curricula as well as the evaluation systems. The product of medical and health science professional education was to meet the societal needs for better healthcare. Hence, RGUHS had the vision to bring in uniformity in the standards of teaching and have a common curriculum for the various courses offered in different colleges across Karnataka.

The National Institute of Ayurveda ,Jaipur

NIA is an apex Institute under the Department of AYUSH for promoting the growth and development of Ayurveda as a model Institute for evolving high standards of teaching, training, research and patient care and also to invoke scientific outlook to the knowledge of Ayurvedic System of Medicine. The Institute, an Autonomous Body under Department of AYUSH, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Govt. of India, is registered under the Rajasthan Societies Registration Act, 1958.

The erstwhile Government Ayurvedic College of Jaipur of the Govt. of Rajasthan was merged to form the Institute. All the teaching and non-teaching staff of the then Government Ayurvedic College of Jaipur and also the teaching staff of Government Ayurvedic College of Udaipur were screened for absorption in the Institute. Those staff recommended by the Screening Committee and approved by the Governing Body were finally absorbed in the Institute.

The Tamil Nadu Dr. M.G.R. Medical University, Chennai

The need to have a separate Medical University in Tamilnadu exclusively to deal with medical education and research at Under graduate, Post graduate and Doctoral level was keenly felt for over a period of years and was under consideration of the State Government since 1980. The State Government appointed a High Level Committee consisting of Dr. A. Venugopal, Dr. M. Natarajan and Dr. S. Kameswaran to go into all aspects of establishing a separate Medical University and make suitable recommendations to the State Government.

Shri Dhanwantri Ayurvedic College, Chandigarh 

Education in Ayurveda has a rich tradition. It was taught in the Universities of TAKSHASHILA and NALANDA in ancient times the golden era of Ayurveda. However, it suffered a setback during medieval period and more so during British rule in India. Shri Ayurved Mahavidyalaya Nagpur

Shri Ayurved Mahavidyalaya, Nagpur is one of the oldest Ayurved College in Maharashtra State and serving in the field of Ayurveda since then. It is a government aided college having undergraduate and postgraduate courses in Ayurveda as well as in acupressure, yoga and naturopathy. A very good building along with well educated teaching and dedicated non-teaching staff, well maintained departments are the strength of the college. Bharatiya Vaidyak Samanvaya Samiti has started this college with great pleasure in 1953 which was later on recognized by Vidarbha Ayurved Board in 1956. The college got affiliated previously to Nagpur University and now it is affiliated to Maharashtra University of Health Sciences,Nashik. It is a well known institute of Ayurveda in Central India having central Research laboratory, excellent library, fully equipped hospital and well developed departments. Gujarat Ayurved University, Jamnagar 

Gujarat Ayurved University is a pioneer statutory University in the field of Ayurveda established in 1965 by an Act of Gujarat State Government which imparts teaching, training and research in various specialities of Ayurveda. Apart from Undergraduate education, University is conducting Post Graduate education in different subjects of Ayurveda and a high level clinical and experimental research in the field.
Looking to the growing popularity of Ayurveda in foreign Countries the University has taken responsibility to work as a nodal agency for propagation of Ayurveda, globally.
