Indian Institute Of Science, Bengaluru

Established in 1909, IISc is India’s leading institution of advanced education and research in the sciences and in engineering. Indian Institute of Space Science and Technology, Thiruvananthapuram

Indian Institute of Space Science and Technology (IIST), situated at Thiruvananthapuram is a Deemed to be University under Section 3 of the UGC Act 1956. IIST functions as an autonomous body under the Department of Space, Government of India.IIST offers various undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in areas that are relevant to space studies. The institute currently offers two B.Tech courses in Aerospace Engineering and Avionics and a Dual Degree (B. Tech + Master of Science/ M. Tech) programme with B.Tech in Engineering Physics and any of the following Postgraduate specializations – (i) Master of Science (Astronomy & Astrophysics) (ii) M.Tech (Earth System Science) (iii) Master of Science (Solid State Physics) and (iv) M.Tech (Optical Engineering). Admissions to these branches are merit based and intake is based on the Joint Entrance Examination (Advanced) conducted by IITs, as per the guidelines set by IIST. The major feature of the undergraduate program is the liberal offer of assistanceship to meritorious students, rendering the education “completely free”, subject to the students securing a stipulated minimum academic requirement.

Indian Instittue Of Technology, Kharagpur

The history of the IIT system dates back to 1946 when a committee was set up by Hon’ble Sir Jogendra Singh, Member of the Viceroy’s Executive Council, Department of Education, Health and Agriculture to consider the setting up of Higher Technical Institutions for post war industrial development in India.On Sept. 15, 1956, the Parliament of India passed an act known as the Indian Institute of Technology(Kharagpur) Act declaring this Institute as an Institute of national importance.The Institute was also given the status of an autonomous University.The Institute started its academic programme with only ten Departments. On March, 1952, Pandit Nehru laid the foundation stone of the New Building. From this modest start in 1950, IIT Kharagpur has been engaged in a steady process of development with about 18 academic departments, five centres of excellence. the vast tree-laden campus.Currently we have about 550 faculty, 1700 employees and 9000 students on the campus.
