INFOSYS SCIENCE FOUNDATION NUTRITION CHALLENGE
he Infosys Science Foundation (ISF) has partnered with the New York Academy of Sciences to challenge students aged 13-18 years in India.
The Challenge
Find a solution to malnutrition for expectant mothers and children under 5 years of age in India
- The solution should keep in mind that adult and infant bodies are different and different solutions may need to be considered
- The challenge is virtual and will run on the NYAS platform – Launchpad
- Students across India will work in teams of 1 to 6 people
- Solvers can reach out to Mentors who are experts in either nutrition or STEM subjects and will be available on the platform to advise any team developing a solution
- The topic of the challenge is social however the skills used to design a solution are expected to be scientific – STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) skills
The Reward
- The two top finalist teams, who have best used their STEM skills to present a viable solution to the challenge, will travel to Bangalore to be part of the Infosys Prize ceremony in January 2019
- Both teams get the privilege of a trip to ISRO, Sriharikota, to view an inspiring sight – the launch of a rocket
- The winning team will additionally receive a scholarship of Rs 5 lakhs per team member
Mentors
- There will be up to 50 mentors available to help guide the teams’ ideas. The Mentors will be skilled in one or more STEM skills and/or Nutrition. Teams and mentors will communicate via chat on Launchpad
- Mentors will receive a year’s complimentary membership to the New York Academy of Sciences. They will also receive an invitation to attend the Infosys Prize ceremony in January 2019
