Vimala Devi Vishnoi, a widow of Samvari village of Phalodi tehsil in Jodhpur district is a proud mother today. Both her sons, Ashok and Chandramohan are now set to become doctors. Elder son Ashok Vishnoi, with AIR-4000 in AIMPT (now NEET) in 2013, is currently undergoing internship with the final year in RNT Medical College, Udaipur, while the younger son Chandramohan has secured AIR-2011 in NEET-2018. Both of them fulfilled their mother’s dream and her hard work has paid off.
The family fell into a grim financial crisis eight years ago after the father of the two, Shankarlal, a retired Army man, met an untimely death in a road accident. This left Vimala as the sole bread earner of the family with two minor kids. The widow somehow managed to buy daily expenses through her husband’s pension but it was a tough challenge for her to bear the educational expenses of her sons. Chandramohan and Ashok studied at a government school in Phalodi.
Vimala Devi, for the education of the two sons, made up her mind to work as a daily wage laborer and after their schooling first sent elder son and later younger son to Kota where they took coaching to crack the medical colleges’ entrance tests. Both brothers believe that their success is the result of the sacrifice and hard work of their mother. Chandramohan will be pursuing his studies from Bikaner Medical College.
