No limbs? No worries! Motivational speaker Nick Vujicic has inspired billions with his positive outlook on life and approach to overcoming adversity. And while hope is the key ingredient in his message, the challenges of modern life are leaving many increasingly hopeless. How can people overcome the constraints of circumstance, to live a life without limits? And is hope and positive thinking enough to achieve that?
God can use a life without limbs
to show the world how to
live a life without limits!
It is a great privilege to introduce you to Life Without Limbs, an Evangelistic ministry. My name is Nick Vujicic and I’m 33 years old. I was born without arms or legs and given no medical reason for this condition. Faced with countless challenges and obstacles, God has given me the strength to surmount what others might call impossible.
Life Without Limbs is all about sharing this same hope and genuine love that I have personally experienced with people all over the globe. It’s been said that doors open to a man without arms and legs much more easily than to anyone else, we thank God for providing that privilege. I’ve been invited into very unexpected places to share about my faith in Jesus Christ and literally millions have responded.
Traveling extensively to over 63 countries and still counting, I have been extremely humbled by the continuous opportunities that the Lord has given me to share my testimony. My greatest joy in this life is to introduce Jesus to those I meet and tell them of His great desire to get to know them personally by allowing Him to become their Lord and Savior. That’s what Life Without Limbs is all about.
In Psalm 139:13-14, the Bible says, “For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.”
Because of the ministry of Life Without Limbs, God has used me in countless schools, churches, prisons, orphanages, hospitals, stadiums and in face-to-face encounters with individuals, telling them how very precious they are to God. It is our greatest pleasure to assure people that God does have a plan for each and every life that is meaningful and purposeful, for God took my life, one that others might disregard as not having any significance and He has filled me with His purpose and showed me His plans to use me to move hearts and lives toward Him.
You can join with us through your donations, in supporting our ministry and helping us to continue to bring the message of hope that is found in Jesus Christ to the countless others in this world who are still lost and hurting.
“For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord,
plans to prosper you and not to harm you,
plans to give you hope and a future.”
Early life and family Nick Vujicic was born in Melbourne, Australia, in 1982 to Dušanka and Borislav Vujičić, Serbian immigrants from Yugoslavia.
His parents became active in a Melbourne church. His mother attended nursing school at the Royal Children’s Hospital in Melbourne while his father worked in business management. He was born with tetra-amelia without some fully formed limbs. According to his autobiography, his mother refused to see him or hold him while the nurse held him in front of her, but she and her husband eventually accepted their son’s condition and understood it as “God’s plan for their son”.
Vujicic has two small and deformed feet, one of which he calls his “chicken drumstick” because of its shape.
Originally, he was born with the toes of that foot fused. An operation was performed to separate the toes so that he could use them as fingers to grab, turn a page, or perform other functions. He has been able to use his foot to operate an electric wheelchair, a computer and a mobile phone. Vujicic attempted suicide but notes that he had an “amazingly normal childhood”.
Vujicic thrived in his teenage and young adult years despite being bullied. After his mother showed him a newspaper article about a man dealing with a severe disability when he was seventeen, he started to give talks at his prayer group.Vujicic graduated from Griffith University at the age of 21 with a Bachelor of Commerce degree, with a double major in accountancy and financial planning.
In 2005, Vujicic founded Life Without Limbs, an international non-profit organisation and ministry. In 2007, he founded Attitude is Altitude, a secular motivational speaking company.
Vujicic starred in the short film The Butterfly Circus. At the 2010 Method Fest Independent Film Festival, he was awarded Best Actor in a Short Film for his starring performance as Will.
On his webpages, in a self-formulated “Statement of Faith”, Vujicic states his adherence to born-again Christianity, to classically Calvinist notions on sin and redemption, and to Biblical inerrancy without specifying what particular understanding of Biblical inerrancy he intends to mean. His tenets of faith also include the imminent Second Coming of Christ. He does not publicly identify with or adhere to any denomination or congregation.
In 2006, he moved to California. In 2008 in McKinney, Texas, near Dallas, he met Kanae Miyahara, the Mexican-born, Texas-based younger daughter of a Japanese agricultural engineer and a Mexican mother. She had come to hear him give a motivational speech. They married on 12 February 2012. The couple has two sons and, as of June 2017, are expecting twin girls. They live in southern California.
