Sometimes you face difficulties not because you are doing something wrong but because you are doing something right. The hardships one faces in life do not come to destroy, but to show what you’re made of and just how strong you are. Life affords no higher pleasure than that of surmounting difficulties, passing from one step of success to another, forming new wishes and seeng them gratified.One such person whose patience and faith helped her in overcoming the difficulties of life is the 20-year-old Rupa Yadav from Jaipur in Rajasthan. Married to a 12-year-old-boy at the age of 8, Rupa isn’t your conventional child bride who would succumb to social diktat and remain confined within the 4 walls of her house, engaged in domestic chores. Rather she chose to continue her education even after marriage. This way she set a precedent for millions of girls who dream of achieving something big in life.
Rupa pursued her medical coaching dedicatedly from an institute in Kota. She worked hard and cleared the CBSE’s undergraduate National Entrance-cum-Eligibility Test (NEET) for medical education in her third attempt. She scored 603 in the NEET and is currently undergoing counselling for her admission. When asked regarding her future plans, Rupa says that she aspires to work in a government-run medical hospital.Rupa’s in-laws and her husband, Shankar Lal, have been very supportive since the beginning and feel proud of her achievements. Rupa was the youngest among five siblings. She was 8 years old when she was married to Shankar Lal, who was 12 at that time. He always supported Rupa’s ambitions. After knowing that she has scored 84 per cent in matriculation, he persuaded her to study further. Husband’s support along with the encouragement of neighbours and relatives gave her the confidence to go ahead with her higher eduction.Rupa completed her intermediate from a private school at Kareri village in Chomu near Jaipur. This time too she scored 84 percent which further boosted her morale. Rupa states that she made up her mind to become a doctor when her uncle died of cardiac arrest, due to improper medical assistance. In her first attempt at AIPMT, Rupa managed to score 415 marks and her All India Rank was 23,000. In her second attempt Rupa again missed the mark although her score improved to 503.
Although Rupa wanted to study further, financial constraints came in her way. However, seeing her dedication and sincerity, the coaching center where she was studying waivered her fee. The coaching institute has also offered her a monthly scholarship to complete her 4-year MBBS. Rupa aims to serve the society and make her mark as a doctor and a good human beingRupa’s story is a perfect example of how will power and hard work, along with the support of our loved one can help us conquer the insurmountable. People like her show that you need to fight through some worst things to enjoy the best things in life.Sometimes, we are tested not to show our weaknesses but to discover our own strength that lies within.
